the (washing) cycle of life

A miracle! The ink's come out of the two Hobbs tops. Hurrah!

This episode illustrates the time-honoured maxim (which I just made up) that those moments when you are most deranged, and think you should "do something useful," are the very moments when you should not try to do anything "useful" at all. It's a terrible moment when you open the washing machine and a navy blue gel pen falls out.*

Fortunately your washerwoman here was so busy stomping around saying, "Huh! If it were a piece of paper the ink would bloody well come out," that she at least had the clever idea of re-washing the garments in question. And joy unbounded.

Also in this week's news: the toaster oven (yes! My brave little toaster oven) and the iron are both now officially toast.

But even together they didn't cost as much as the two Hobbs tops. (It's a shame I didn't have anything by Calvin in there too, eh?)

* For future reference though, it will be a good moment when it's a gel pen.
